Meek Vernon
President
Meek Vernon’s security guard career began in 2019 as a foot patrol officer and he quickly moved up to the position of receiving clerk. That position entailed processing and directing construction contractors, vendors, and deliveries. Communication with property managers and the chief engineer was vital to keep the process running safely and smoothly.
His passion for learning enabled him to take on more and more responsibilities. He headed to work each day excited to do his best to fulfill what had become a very professional calling.
In 2021 he accepted an offer to become Director of Security for the same property consisting of two towers, a three-story garage, three Boards of Directors, and 38 officers. He accepted the challenge and hit the ground running.
Meek immediately began to establish a rapport with each officer, listened to their concerns, and took action to remedy them. He emphasized the responsibility of their positions, the importance of integrity, and the realization that people's lives and property were at stake. He conducted trainings, wrote manuals, and had emergency drills. One of his goals as a leader was to help each officer be the best version of themselves.
He and his staff took pride in the fact that they served as security officers with integrity, excellent communication skills, the ability to respond in emergency situations, an understanding of the importance of writing detailed reports when necessary, and overall professionalism. Joan Gayle
Vice President
Joan Gayle is a highly effective leader with years of experience in customer service and training. With a degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University she has extensive knowledge of criminal justice policies and procedures. Joan is strongly committed to the concept of teamwork amongst security officers that will lead to excellence in protection, customer service, and proactive risk management. Whether securing residential communities, corporate offices, or special events her goal is to create a safe and secure environment. Joan’s attention to detail is impeccable. Over the years she has earned the respect and admiration of her staff and management.
Ms. Gayle’s objective aligns with the founder Meek Vernon’s in that integrity is essential for building trust, establishing a solid reputation, and fostering long-term professional relationships. As Dwight D. Eisenhower stated, “the supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible.” This sentiment rings true for Meek and Joan. Her extensive experience as a security officer and her deep understanding of the marketplace make her a valuable asset to the HavenGuard team.
